Access Center Walk-in Services

Getting started with mental health services can feel overwhelming, especially if you are not sure what to expect. Swanson Center’s Access Center is here to make that first step easier. We offer walk-in services at designated locations at specific times, so you can begin care without waiting for a scheduled appointment.

Making Care More Accessible

We are committed to reducing barriers to care and helping people access services as quickly as possible. If you are ready to get started, our Access Center is here to help, and available as follows:

Michigan City Access Center Hours

  • 7224 W 400 N, Michigan City, IN 46360

  • Tuesday: 9 AM – 2 PM
    Wednesday: 9 AM – 5 PM
    Thursday: 9 AM – 2 PM

La Porte Access Center Hours

  • 1230 W State Rd 2, Suite A, La Porte, IN

  • Monday: 9 AM – 2 PM

These walk-in hours are for Access Center services only and are not the regular office hours for Swanson Center.

In many cases, we are able to complete your intake appointment the same day. An intake is your first meeting with us, where we learn more about your needs and help connect you with the right services. Because walk-in volume can vary, same-day intakes are not always guaranteed. If we are unable to see you that day, we will schedule you for the earliest available appointment.

Please plan for the visit to take about 2 hours. Individuals are seen in the order they register.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Step 1: Complete Registration Forms

When you arrive, you will fill out forms with basic information such as your contact details, insurance information, social security number, and the reason you are seeking services.

Step 2: Meet with Staff

A support staff member will review your forms with you and ask a few additional questions to help us better understand your needs.

Step 3: Intake Options

After registration, you may schedule an intake appointment for a later date and time.

Step 4: Intake Evaluation

During your intake, a therapist will talk with you about your concerns, assess your needs, recommend services, and help schedule follow-up care.
